Chandernagore College which was established in the year 1862, has an eco-friendly environment. It has a long legacy of healthy environmental practices including periodic plantation, their preservation and maintenance. The total area of Chandernagore College is 121110.27 sq. ft. out of which the built-up area is 40.59% (49158.09 sq. ft.), open space 40.48% (49023.4 sq. ft.) and green cover area is 18.93% (22928.78 sq. ft.) which means approximately 60 % area is occupied by open land and plantation that generates a better and sustainable campus environment.

Chandernagore College established in 1862 and re-established in 1931, is a Constituent College of the University of Burdwan. Chandernagore College is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f)1956 and Section 12(B) 1972. The distinguished faculty members of this institution hails from the prestigious West Bengal Educational Service Cadre. The College was evaluated by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) in 2007 and was awarded ‘B++’ rank. In 2016 the College was re-accredited by NAAC with the same grade but with an improved overall score.
