INTRODUCTION

Girls’ Hostel of Chandernagore College with accommodation for about 36 boarders provides for the students a liberal, nurturing environment, a “Home away from Home”. A Hostel for the girls has been a long cherished demand of the students of this College and it became finally operational from April’2019. It is situated in the main campus of the College. It is a privilege to reside in the hostel as it provides excellent modern facilities. Each room has ergonomically designed furniture and has been aesthetically furnished. The Girls’ Hostel has always endeavoured to help the college accomplish its aim to provide girls quality education and a space for growth and learning. It gives outstation students the comfort of living on campus and access to all its facilities. The Hostel has played a significant role since its inception in empowering girls often from smaller towns in nurturing their dreams, their talent providing a safe space for girls who wished to acquire Bachelors or Master’s degree. The hostel authorities, instead of being stereotypical watchful eyes, train and help the residents grow more independent and stronger during their stay here. The hostel plays a significant and magnanimous role in taking care of affordable accommodation. Life in hostel is also about stepping into the space of responsible citizenship. The balance between rights and duties is carefully calibrated. It is also about being a caring community that celebrates diversity across regional, linguistic, class, religious and ideological differences and embraces an identity of womanhood that is confident, poised and ready to grapple with the challenges and opportunities that await them in their future.

room 3-seaters / 4-seaters based spacious, airy and well lit fully furnished rooms with ergonomically designed furnitures.

visitor's room Seating arrangement is provided in the visitor’s room at the ground floor of the hostel. The visitor's room has a television set which can be accessed by the students of the Hostel.

genset Electricity supply is 24 hours and connected to a separate Gen Set meant exclusively for Hostel.

services Electrician and plumber are on 24 hour call.

sanitation Special focus is on cleanliness, health and hygiene. Adequate sanitation and garden staff take care of the Hostel.

security To ensure the welfare and security of the boarders round dedicated round the -clock women security guards have been employed.

ADMISSION & EXIT PROCESS

  • Admission into the Girls Hostel is conducted purely on the basis of merit and in accordance with Governmental rules.
  • The distance from home of the Students is taken into consideration for admission into the Girls Hostel.
  • The admission of the College students to the Girls’ Hostel is subject to verification of their original documents.
  • Only regular students of the College can apply for the Hostel accommodation.
  • At the time of admission to the hostel, each student must be accompanied by her Guardian.
  • After completion of 3-year U.G. course and 2-year P.G. course, a student’s boardership will automatically terminate. If a student, after completion of her U.G. course, wants to stay in the Hostel for her P.G. course, she has to apply fresh application and has to abide by the prevailing rules.
  • Once admission taken in the hostel, money deposited in the College Authority Account will not be refunded, under any circumstances.
  • Before leaving the Hostel, boarders will have to submit their Clearance Certificates to the College office subject to prior verification.

LODGING & FOODING

  • All rooms in the Hostel are Three Seaters (three students in a room). In addition there are rooms which are Four Seaters (four students in a room).
  • Boarders are responsible for the orderliness and tidiness of their rooms and of the Hostel in general.
  • Boarders should not damage hostel property. In any such incident, damage charges will be recovered from the concerned student.
  • When not needed, boarders should switch off the lights, fans and all electronics gadgets in their Hostel Rooms.
  • Mess for the Hostel Boarders shall be managed by the boarders themselves. It is mandatory for all boarders to take charge by rotation for one month (3 students at a time) for Mess-keeping.
  • One-time tea with biscuits in the morning, two meals and one tiffin in the evening will be provided.
  • Students will have to take their meals on specified time and late meals will not be served. If a student skips a meal without prior intimation to the concerned authority, she will have to pay a fine of Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty Only).
  • Meals will be served in the Dining Hall and will not be served in the rooms, except when the boarder is un-well and with the prior permission of the Hostel Super.

HOSTEL FEE STRUCTURE

  • The first Month’s Hostel Fees will include both Contingency Charges and Mess Charges.
  • From the second month onwards, Hostel Fees will include only Mess Charges.
  • Mess charges for 15 days, presently Rs 1500/ - (One Thousand Five Hundred Fifty Only) per month, are compulsory for each boarder. In case of absence /leave from the Hostel, the remaining advance payment (Mess Charges), if any, will be adjusted with the next month’s Mess Charges.

PAYMENT PROCESS

  • Boarders must pay their Hostel Fee in advance in the first week of the current month.
  • Their names will be struck off the hostel rolls if they fail to pay the Hostel Fee in time for two consecutive months.
  • Payment will be accepted only through Bank mentioned below.
  • Payments are to be made through Office of the College to the designated Account of IDBI Bank, Chandernagore Branch, Fatakgora.
