Chandernagore College established in 1862, is a Constituent College of the University of Burdwan. Chandernagore College is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f)1956 and Section 12(B) 1972. The distinguished faculty members of this institution hails from the prestigious West Bengal Educational Service Cadre. In the current evaluation by National Accreditation and Asses Council (NAAC), Chandernagore College was graded A+ (3.46). This evaluation is the highest so far by any Government College in West Bengal since the evaluation begins. Moreover, the college is amongst 1% of around fifty thousand colleges under AISHE which has received A+ grade. Earlier, college was evaluated in 2007 and was awarded ‘B++’ rank. "Chandernagore College established in 1862 by the French Colonial Government as a French Primary School - “Ecole de Sainte Marie”, and finally re-established in its present form in 2nd October 1954, has a long and chequered history. Previously known as College Dupleix, Chandernagore College, has been witness to the changing courses of history. It has striven to contribute to the academic enhancement of not only the urban residents of Chandernagore but also of its rural surrounding regions. Chandernagore College is a premier educational institution which has made consistent progress year by year in academic and co-curricular activities.
