ABOUT
The College Library started in the year 1931, the year in which the College Dupleix was reopened after a gap of 23 year,
with 500 Books, mostly donated by eminent local individuals and teachers.
Chandernagore College Library system consists of one Central Library and 16 Seminar Libraries ( i.e. Departmental
Libraries for Hons. Departments). The Central Library is situated at the Ground Floor of Administrative Building
of the College with an area of 6500 sq. ft. Both open and closed access systems have been maintained simultaneously.
Apart from the circulation of books, the library also provides a reading room for students and teachers, reprographic
service ( as and when required), access to e-learning resources and career guidance corner consisting of preparatory
books related to competitive examinations.

Chandernagore College has published an online public catalogue of library books. This helps faculties and students to check books even

The Library has a rich collection of about one lakh fifteen thousand books. During the last six years, the following number of books

The Library has taken subscription of INFLIBNET for faculties and students. Moreover, student can access free open e-learning resources
available in the internet. The list of such libraries can be found here.
Apart from the e-resources, at present the library subscribes twenty journals/magazines. here.
About 766 bound volumes of old journals having tremendous archival value which was gifted by Sri Harihar Seth, a great
patron of learning of erstwhile Chandernagore.

Computerization of Library
Chandernagore College library uses Koha software. The retrospective conversion of library catalogue from manual to Machine-Readable
format is being done by using koha software. Database relating to approximately Twenty Five Thousand books have already been
incorporated in the koha software which is being regularly updated.
Membership database of the users have been created. Serial Publication database is being updated in the Koha software.
