Introduction
The Department of Physics at Chandernagore College was started with the introduction of an Intermediate Science course under the University of Calcutta in 1931. A Degree course in science was started in 1948 which was subsequently upgraded to an Honours course in Physics in 1953. In 1960, the affiliation was shifted to the University of Burdwan and the Department has since been teaching Under-Graduate courses in accordance with the syllabi of the University of Burdwan. Choice Based Credit System has been introduced in the undergraduate level since 2017.The present faculty profile of the department is a beautiful blend of experience and dynamism.
