Introduction
The Department of Sanskrit was established in 1931 initially with I.A. course, the B.A. General course was introduced
in 1947 and in 1981 the Honours course came into being. Prof. Shastiprasad Bhattachariya was the first Head of the Department. At present there is an ever-rising demand for Sanskrit in Under-Graduate courses in this college.
